Hosting Ref has updated their list of top sites for 2009. InMotion Hosting won the #1 spot again. Hosting Ref reviews and rates web hosting services.
Everyone of the hosting sites that made the top ten cost less than $7 a month, and many of the offered unlimited bandwidth. If you’re looking for budget hosting, their #2 spot was Web Hosting Pad costing just $3.96 a month. You can’t get much cheaper than that for server space.
Hosting Ref has the side by side comparison they have on the main page, but also does an extensive review for each site. One thing I think they have added since last year is their customer reviews. Besides hearing what Hosting Ref has to say, you can see what the general audience is saying. Reviewers rate several categories, and can also submit written feedback. This makes the reviews way more credible to me.
I admittidly don’t use any of the hosts that Hosting Ref mentions, but I like to check it out occasionally to see what I am missing. I have been using the same old company for eleven years now.

The makers of Bosscart saw my previous post about BossCart, and wanted to let me know that they have it on a second domain in the UK, Ecommerce Shopping Basket Software.
Comparing the two sites, I actually like the UK one a lot better. The dot com one is stuff with a lot of content for reading, and who does that. The UK site offers plenty of visual reprensentations that gives the same points quickly and easily. Another big selling point of BossCart is the number of high quality, and free ecommerce templates they have to offer. Comparing the two sites the dot com one has just one text link, and the UK one has a number of screenshots of the templates. I am guessing the UK site sells more. Which site do you think would do better?

Calling all directory submitters…
Here is another directory, Site Promotion. It’s a Search Engine Submission directory. Basically, it’s a directory of search engine sumission sites and web marketing sites. After submitting your own site, check out the Web Directory Blog. On the blog they have list of both paid and free directories where you can submit to more.
The site also has a search engine submission page where submit your site to 20 search engines. Many sites like this require you to have a back link to their site so I was happy to see it wasn’t mandatory with this site. If you want to submit to more they also have a paid version that submits to 100 search eninges. Addtionally, the site offers two other services in regards to site marketing. They offer a link building service, and SEO services. The owner of this site has run several SEO competitions in the past, and I know he is more than qualified. Submitting to directories can be a drag, but if you don’t tell anyone about your website how is anyone going to find it?

It seems like my last few posts have been about directory on this blog so I decided to go ahead and do another one. I also decided to create a new category just for them. I figure having a nice list of directories is a tool itself for webmasters on their marketing journey of telling the world.
This directory is a Business Product & Services Directory. It’s called LinksLinky. It has a PR4 rating is light on other submissions (so easy to find your site), and offers paid or free listings. A free listing requires a backlink, here is mine: Web Directory Forum. Obviously easy to do, and each listing has its own unique page description with visitor counter. The featured and regular listings are £15.00. Knowing how few listings there are right now, I think you would be fine with a regular listing if you don’t like to have backlinks on your site.
They also have a blog, Links Linky Blogs, but it’s looking a little quite right now.

Marketing a website can be a bit of a chore, and submitting to directories is one of them. DefiniteWeb.net is a web directory specializing in sites geared for retail.
If you are one whom does submit to directories, now is the time. This Internet Resources & Directory is still fairly new, and the listings are few and far between. This meaning, your site can still easily get spotted, and is not buried by the mass numbers of other listings. You may submit your link for free if you offer a reciprocal link, but may also pay for a more premier position.
As a visitor to the directory, listings offer a brief description, PR rank display, and additionally offer a more detailed listing with a unique page about the item solely. The top right menu has links to top and new listings
Simple directory, currently in good standings with Gee Men, and easy to submit your site.
