Top Ten Website Mistakes
I just wrote a post on my main blog about the top ten website mistakes. Hope you check it out, and give it a digg if you like. The number one mistake I found was the incorrect use of heading tags.

Are you a webmaster? Do you have a method to handling Mondays, and making them part of a successful week? If you do, let me know. I am starting a new weekly post on my main site, Best Web Image.
Today I thought I would mention a handy little website that has helped me out several times. It’s ComputerFileExtensions.com. There specialty is File Extensions, and if they don’t have the definition for them all, they certainly have more than any other site I have found.
File Extensions is a directory of extension names. Next time a client sends you their photos in some weirdo format, now you can know exactly what it is. Besides knowing what the extension is for, you can also get information for problems you may be having with you PC because of them. Each extension has the it’s definition, and possible recommended issues you may be having with it.
File Extensions also has a registry scanner. The registry scanner is can be set to do a complete audit of your PC, or can be set to specifically hunt down the problem you may be having with a specific extension. A common problem that happens PC users, is that new applications like to do a hostile takeover of some of your files, in an attempt to be the authority on it. An example, would be loading Quicktime on a PC with Windows Media Player on it already, and Quicktime tries to get you to use their application to open all of the files that Windows Media did. This registry scanner can help identify problems likeĀ this, and correct it.
The directory is the main reason I use this site. I don’t have too many problems with software these days, and only occasionaly run a registry scanner.
Looking to submit your site in a business directory? IBizDir is a directory of business across the globe, and also offers a guide with general tips and tools for small business owners.
The business guide portion of the site offers advice on several categories, but it seems much of its content is for companies doing business online. There is advice for starting a business, marketing, business finance, and taxes. There is also a great deal of information on how to start a website, where to host it, and other pertinent items.
The directory is a paid listing. Rates are a one time fee with two options: Regular – $39.94, and Featured – $69.91. It’ looks like most are going for the regular listing, and why not. The site is pretty new, so getting seen in your category is still pretty easy. At first appearance, looking at the right sidebar, there is only about 20 categories. Each main category though, has several subcategories totaling to well over 100 categories.
This is a great looking directory, with an added feature compared to most directories, the Business Guide. It even has loan calculators, currency converters, and more. Check it out! I definitely like their cool menu.
Tired of submitting to directories yourself? SEO Focused to the rescue. While many SEO services are ready to take on your whole project, many webmasters already know what to do, at least pretty well. Why buy the whole package when you can do much of it yourself, and at a lower cost. Here is where SEO Focus can help. Check out these rates for their link building service.
There are some screaming good deals there, and if you are trying to get links using the social bookmarking technique, they offer equally great rates here: social bookmarking. The owner of the site is a popular DP member with an impeccable transaction feedback. Not one negative comment that I could find. Hopefully, I will be adding to his rep as well because I am trying out the service as well. I just signed up for a smaller package as a sample for another website I have to get it submitted to a bunch of directories. I believe directories are often one of the more safer places to list your site when you are using a service like this. I will keep you posted how it goes!
Also, for those of you looking for free advice, that addtionally have a seo blog with some basic tips and updates.
